Week 1 - Butterscotch Layer Cake

I love butterscotch caramel, sticky, gooey, luscious of texture and taste. a cake separated by caramel sounds too good to be true. and i have the perfect reason to cook such a large yummy cake, show day holiday this coming week which means a picnic in the park with friends. they get to enjoy the fruits of my first goddess labour.

11 August.
ok so my first attempt  has been completed with mixed results. doesn't look quite as spectacular as Nigella's but  tastes good!
Nigella's cake
already having second thoughts about my ability to put up with my oven for the next 52 baking weeks. it just doesn't seem to hold a constant temperature so things don't cook well or evenly. or it could just be my bad mixing of ingredients. hmmm, i suppose it does mean that any disasters can be blamed on the oven...maybe i should hold off buying a new one.
i'm eating a second piece as we speak and struggling. its sooo rich and sweet. i have two thirds of this cake left! who is going to eat it! maybe i could take it to work and see if i can palm it off to workmates.
i am also realising that i need more than me to eat through all this food that i am going to cook. I need tasters, anyone want to volunteer on a semi permanent basis??
